ahahaha ok, he called another guy awesome, how fucking gay! he’s a big fan of a male character on tv and fanboys over him, oh my god how fucking gay! he gives another man on the street a passing glance, sO fucking GAY!!! he has an intimate friendship with another male, wOW HE’s SO GAY!!!!!!!!
- stop fetishizing homosexuality
- stop turning all male-on-male interaction into something romantic
- stop making a fucking joke out of queer people
- and stop passing it off as queer representation when it’s really just a fanon wet dream
dean has said in canon that he’s not interested in men. get the fuck over it.
Only he hasn’t said he’s not gay. He’s asked ‘why do they think we’re gay?’ He’s never denied being interested in men, only asked (likely because of internalized homophobia) why people perceive him as gay. To which Sam response ‘because you’re butch’.
People have continually implied that him and Cas are in a relationship, Dean has never questioned it, or said ‘I don’t swing that way’, probably getting more upset about the idea of Cas loving him because of his low self esteem.
He has only ever questioned or said against being in a sexual relationship with Sam. Every time someone asks about him and Sam (if they’re not working a case) Dean denies being with Sam. Not that he’s not gay/bi, but that he’s not with Sam.
He likes women, but there’s a high chance he likes men too because sexuality is fluid and things change. Such as his perception of his own sexuality and how open about his interest in men he can be.
Dean is a complicated character so stop acting like he’s some 2D macho man dudebro.
Because some of us, like ME, want Dean to be bi/pan because finally having a character with the same characteristics and sexuality as you would be damn nice. Especially when his character does not revolve around his sexuality.
Dean has never questioned it, or said ‘I don’t swing that way’
Dean literally said “we don’t swing that way” to Victor Henricksen so
and nobody is making him out to be some 2D character, he’s really complex and being heterosexual doesn’t make him any less complex.
like i’ve said about twenty times now, it wouldn’t make sense for Dean to be shown as heterosexual all this time and then just have him suddenly be bisexual. if a character is queer it needs to be made clear from the beginning or else it doesn’t count as representation and it’s actually just offensive. if he was actually bisexual why wouldn’t it have come up in the past eight seasons??
whoa, whoa, WHOA.
Because this assumes that a person is the same sexual orientation throughout their lives. Which isn’t always the case.
(And I’m not talking about people ‘discovering that they’ve always been gay’. I went from asexual to lesbian to bisexual and am now somewhere in pansexual/graysexual.)
Hormones and people’s interests are constantly changing!
So, yes, Dean has said he’s not into guys in the past, but there is nothing stopping him from becoming attracted to guys, or intersex or even multi dimensional waveforms of celestial intent in the future! Human sexuality is a constantly fluctuating thing and saying that someone- anyone- is strictly gay or straight or bi or whatever and can never be anything else is doing a great disservice to potential character development as well as writing off the sexual evolution of people like myself.
Dean may be hetero for all his life.
Maybe he thought he was bi in the past, maybe he had a threesome with a hot chick and her boyfriend- it doesn’t matter.
He could be at one point, and in the end, who he decides to stick his dick in (or let himself be stuck by) really has far less importance to his worth as a character than the fact that he’s watched his brother die twice, killed the devil and went to hell.
Yeah, it’s not probable that he’ll ever be bi, or gay- but it doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
